Afternoon Alpine Ski

715 Amtrak up to Hudson, there by 920 and southward bound by 945. 70 degrees at the jump before the clouds parted and it climbed to 85. Perfect day. 

Newman Road (and all of its hills) past wildflowers and sheep before Google Maps took me down a goat trail onto private property. Met a Jesuit brother on the land and to him I attribute not being shot dead by some Columbia County property rights fanatic. The path did, however, destroy my front tire, which took me until Elizaville to realize, at which point I called a Lyft to take me to the nearest bike shop, in Rhinebeck. Hence the straight line and lack of miles between the two points. An enlightening conversation with my anti-Zionist, universal collective consciousness believing, cynic of a driver later and I was back on the road, new tire and all. 2/3 of the way stop at Plan Bee Farm Brewery, some strawberries from Obercreek, and I was back on the train at New Hamburg. All in all, a lovely way to play hooky for the day after Juneteenth, quickly shaping up to be an annual tradition.
