Another early start in the dark this morning with a 17km section of track before we would reach the next town. 17km isn’t much in the grand scheme of things, but it is longest distance between towns so far on the Camino. Some extra food and water in the pack plus an expected food truck setup on trail made life as easy as ever.

The Meseta(middle section of the Camino Francés) has lived up to its infamy. About a week of flat, fairly monotonous walking. Throw in a brutal heat wave and I probably wouldn’t describe today as a fun day on trail. But we arrived at our albugue after solid stint of walking and settled in. A tasty, hearty dinner shared with fellow pilgrims was a highlight of the day, as usual.   I’d love to say tomorrow will be cooler, but it doesn’t look like we will get a break from the heat for a long while yet…
