102° dead calm, intense sun, no shade

in the 90s, before I knew him, my friend, and retired Navy EOD member, Rick Miller, ran Badwater. when I asked him how he trained for it, he replied, "I'd get miserable doing yardwork in the heat in Ridgecrest all morning, then during the peak heat of each day I'd go for a run."
to make up for the fact that it was only 102° today (I missed the 106° peak heatwave day of mid-July this year)  I tried Rick's pre-run yardwork methods... yep, it's miserable!
