A test run to check progression. The goal pace for this run was 6:35-7:05 for 2 miles. I went into it aiming for 6:45. After the initial push to get up to pace, I held that for about a half mile before my HR started to go down significantly, to a point where, in the moment, I felt way too comfortable. I picked up the pace to 6:30 which was a good level of discomfort, HR stabilized around 180. Picked it up even further to 6:15 and HR sat around 182-183 which is right at my aerobic capacity. Runna wants me to upgrade my expected 5K to 18:37 from my tested 19:44 a few weeks ago. I'm going to accept the pace increase just for the challenge on some of the training runs, but I don't think I'm capable of a 18:37 5K right now. I feel as though I did this run incorrectly, in the technical terms. I treated it a bit too much like a timetrial albeit I did have energy in the tank to continue, but for how long I'm unsure. This run solidified my tempo pace, which is 6:40 and while I'll keep the workout name as Tempo, it really wasn't exactly. I finished with some barefoot yoga on the boardwalk, hopefully motivating some to open their hips, not just walk up and down!
