Lucked out with back to back Whitney permits so hitting all 3 14ers in the zone. Russell was amazing. Waterfalls, baby marmots and birds, wildflowers, exposed scrambles, neon blue lake!

Well, was supposed to do Whitney but woke up at 3am vomiting and stomach problems sooo started super late with the 11am storm and did this because it was shorter. Acclimation hike? 

Steep trail to a sandy/gravelly slope. Views of Whitney were amazing. “Class 3” scramble was definitely not 3 and a very exposed 4. Just an incredibly fun route. Crazy awesome summit views too. 

Dropped down to Tulainyo Lake which was neon blue. Wanted other 13ers but didn’t have time with the storm. Tagged Carillon still. 

The awful sand-gravel was the best scree ski ever, about 2,000 ft of it. Saw a baby marmot and baby bird that tried to follow me. Ran the fork down to the trailhead.

The actual fun route would have been Muir to Whitney to Russell, but there was too much snow still to attempt that without crampons/axe.
