Mt. Minsi Hike (Aborted "Mind the Gap" Hike)

The boys and I first hiked the Appalachian Trail south from the parking area near Lake Lenape to the vista just past Mt. Minsi, returning the same way.  We then continued on the AT north through the town of Delaware Water Gap, where unfortunately, I stepped off the side of the road where some asphalt had crumbled away, badly turning my right ankle (yes, I hurt myself on a road and not on the rocky trail).  I tried to walk it off, hobbling the rest of the way through the town, across the I-80 bridge, and on to Kittatinny Point in NJ.  The original plan had been to continue on from there, hike up Mt. Tammany, and then take the AT north to Sunfish Pond in Worthington State Forest, before being picked up--a total hike of about 15 miles.  I realized there was no way I would be able to make the steep, rocky ascent of Mt. Tammany.  To salvage a little more of the hike for the boys, they hiked up Tammany while I stayed behind, but we had to completely scrap the hike to Sunfish Pond.  I felt bad to disappoint them, but they did really enjoy the parts they got to do.
