Day 120: 25.1 miles to The Birches (2193.2) 

After about 15 hours of lounging it was time to get out of the hundred mile wilderness and into Baxter State Park. We were cruising for most of the day with only a couple more river crossings, mud pits, and roots to slow us down. We stopped at Abol Bridge General Store and got Italians, Whoppie Pies, and beer to celebrate. We then entered Baxter State Park, got our passes, and signed up to stay at the Birches, an exclusive site for long distance hikers. Annapurna, Jerry (Owl’s Dad) and Chris (GQ’s Dad) were waiting for us at the Katahdin stream campground with all the food we needed for tomorrow. After registering our summit with the ranger, we settled into the camp for one final slumber. Trashman, a fellow NOBO was also planning to summit the next day.
