Cooler, windy morning. 4mi/1hr, catch Sunset. Burn scar starts 20mi from town, lots of blowdowns and overgrowth. Some areas comparable to section K. More Black Hillsy scenery, can only see a few miles through smoke. See new fire on hillside across river, looks pretty close to trail. New rock, quartz and some greenish mineral. Start big descent. Poison oak. Dry mouths, sketchy water basin, road walk, Gatorade from RV park. Blackberries! Chocolate milk, junk food resupply, new shoes!, cookies! (thanks Alex!), Sunset almost faints, road walk back to BBQ (pancake challenge place closed). Sunset yellow blazing to Etna past fire/smoke/uphill. I walk Bigfoot Scenic Byway into the night, cross Klamath River (second largest so far?), 10 truck fire crew passes 9pm, MILE 1000!!! (Uneventful road walk at night, if there was a sign I missed it). See fire glowing over hill, Milky Way. 20 fire trucks at trailhead, find tent spot a ways down with river white noise, pop a few blisters (most foot care I’ve done yet?), bed
